Roscoes chicken . El desayuno en Rocoes al parecer es una tradición de los habitantes de Long Beach (¿¿longbeachianos??) y la especialidad de la casa es mezclar pollo frito con cualquier cosa. Yo pedí el que trae tres alitas fritas, un waffle y una porción de macarrones con queso..el clásico Mac n’ cheese gringo. No soy fan del pollo frito por lo que claramente no me encantó de desayuno, el waffle estuvo bien, pero realmente los macarrones de ese lugar eran muy buenos y cremositos, aunque supongo que también con muchas calorías. Lo bueno que caminé como turista desquiciada ese día así que se compensó el consumo.

Breakfast at Roscoes is, apparetly, a big tradition for the people of Long Beach (longbeachians??) and the house specialty is mixing fried chicken with anything. I ordered the one with three fried wings, a waffle and a side of american’s classic mac n cheese. I’m not a fan of fried chicken which is why clearly I didn’t love it for breakfast, the waffle was good, but what I really enjoyed in that place were the macaroni, they were so rich and creamy, although I suppose with a lot of calories too. Good thing I walked like a crazy tourist that day, which compensated for the big breakfast.

Fred 62 en Los Ángeles. Realmente aquí sólo tomé una botana, pero muy sabrosa, y sí, de nuevo con queso… y frita…por algo Estados Unidos es el 1er lugar en obesidad, aunque los mexicanos estamos justito atrás jeje. Comì unas bolitas de distintos tipos de queso, fritas y con cilantro arriba, si las comes con una mezcla de tabasco y mostaza queda de diez. Además para acompañar me tomé una fría Stella Artois.

I really only had a snack in this place, but so good, and yes, again with cheese…and fried…no wonder the US is the first place in obesity, although we Mexicans are very close right behind them hehe.  I ate these fried balls with different kinds of cheeses, with cilantro on top, if you eat them with a mix of Tabasco and mustard you really hit the spot. Also, I had a cold Stella Artois to go with it.

Pho Americas. Por fin algo que se me antojaba desde hace mucho tiempo. Lo probé en Hawaii y aquí en Vallarta no había encontrado un restaurant vietnamita, así que pedí un grande tazón de Pho, es un platillo tradicional de Vietnam, básicamente un caldo con largos noodles, escoges si quieres con carne, pollo o camarón. Pero lo que más me late es que tú lo preparas a tu gusto, en la mesa te ponen varias hierbas germen, cebolla, y varios condimentos a elegir. Realmente rico, hubiera podido pedir otro plato pero todo mundo decía que estaba llenísimo así es que me dio un poco de pena jaja…para la próxima no me quedo con las ganas, ¡he dicho!

Finally something I had been craving for a long time. I tried it in Hawaii and I had not been able to find a Vietnamese restaurant in Vallarta, so I ordered a big bowl of Pho, a traditional dish from Vietnam, is basically a broth with long noodles, you choose if you want it with meat, shrimp or chicken. But what I really dig is that you prepare it to your taste, they put  some herbs, germen, onion and lots of other condiments on the table for you to choose. Really good, I could’ve ordered another one but everyone kept saying how full they were so I was embarrassed to ask for more haha… next time I will go through it, and that’s it!

Allondras. Buena pizza, tiene además mucho que ofrecer, como mega emparedados, burritos, hamburguesas. Comí la “Forgettaboutit” con pepperoni, salchicha italiana, cebolla y aceitunas negras. Realmente prefiero las pizzas de masa delgada y crujiente con sólo uno o dos ingredientes, pero para los que les gusta llenadora y son medio carnívoros está perfecta. Además el lugar es interesante porque tiene fotos de varios mafiosos italianos con una breve biografía, para aprender y entretenerte mientras esperas.

Good pizza, it also has much more to offer, subs, burritos, hamburguers. I had the “Forgettaboutit” with pepperoni, italian sausage, onions and black olives. I prefer pizzas with thin and crunchy dough, one or two toppings at most, but for those who like the fulfilling stuff and are kind of carnivorous is perfect. Besides, the place is pretty interesting because it has photos of Italian mafia men with a brief biography, so you learn and entertain yourself while you wait.
