JARDIN DEL NOGALITO

La visita a este restaurante se pospuso un par de veces…debo confesarles que no se me antojaba ir a un lugar que tenía pinta de ofrecer sólo comida para turistas tipo Chico’s Paradise (perdón por la quemada, es sin ofender jeje), en donde se sirven los mismos platillos de siempre, medio fríos y sin encanto.

Bien dice el dicho: “No juzgues a un libro por su cubierta”… Jardín del Nogalito efectivamente está ubicado en un lugar estratégico para recorridos turísticos, pero la comida definitivamente tiene encanto y buen sabor, sobre todo la especialidad de la casa, los camarones jardín del nogalito. Son camarones grandes, rellenos de queso, envueltos en tocino (el cual después de cocinar queda crujiente y saladito..mmm) y dándole el toque de la buena cocina, una salsita espesa de piña: dulce, pero no tanto como para dejar de saborear los demás ingredientes. Son cinco camarones, pero no caigan en la finta de que quedarán hambrientos! Todo lo contrario. Además, este platillo viene acompañado de verduras al vapor, una pequeña ensalada y arroz. Esta ensalada y verduras podrían acompañar mucho mejor a los ricos camarones si fueran igual de originales, tal vez cambiar el aderezo mil islas por una vinagreta semi dulce y darles una presentación más estética.

Vimos lo que pidieron otros comensales, y aunque eran platillos más tradicionales, se veían muy apetecibles también. En cuanto al ambiente, no se arrepentirán conocer al dueño y  equipo del Jardín del Nogalito, gente risueña y querida por muchos en la comunidad vallartense. Además de poder pasear y relajarse un rato disfrutando el río que se encuentra a los pies del restaurante. Lo mejor es que estando ahí realmente te sientes alejado de las labores, el tráfico y el ruido de Vallarta,¡ y sólo está a 10 minutos en carro!

I postponed going to this restaurant a couple of times…I must confess I wasn’t particularly excited about going to a place where they serve “tourist food”, kind of like Chico’s Paradise (sorry for putting you on the spot, no offense hehe), where they offer the same old dishes, food a bit cold and with no charm.

You know the saying?: “Don’t judge a book by its cover”…Well Jardín del Nogalito is in fact located in a strategic point for tours, but the food definetly has a lot of charm and flavor, specially the house specialty, los camarones jardin del nogalito. They are big shrimps, filled with cheese, wrapped in bacon (after cooked it gets crunchy and salty..yummie) and giving the special touch of good cuisine, a thick pineapple sauce: sweet, but not too sweet to mask the flavor of all the other ingredients. There are five shrimps, but don’t be fooled thinking you’ll be hungry after! On the contrary. Besides, this dish comes with vapory veggies, a little salad and rice. This salad and veggies could go much better next to the amazing shrimps though, if they were just as original, maybe changing the classic dressing for a semi sweet vinaigrette and presenting it more esthetically.

We saw what other people ordered, and even though there were more traditional dishes, they all looked delicious. As for the ambiance, you won’t regret meeting the owner and team of Jardín del Nogalito, they’re smiling people, loved by many in the Vallarta community. Also, you will be able to walk and relax while enjoying the little river right next to the restaurant. The best part is, in this place you really feel away from stress and traffic of Vallarta, and your only 10 min driving!
